South Pointe's philosophy of ministry has developed from a range of relationships that God desires for His church. As believers in Christ, we strive to grow in three simultaneous relationships:
- Our relationship with God through Worship and Trust.
- Our relationship with Other Believers through Love, Mentoring, and Accountability.
- Our relationship with Unbelievers, through conveying the Truth of God's Love in word and deed, so they too can become Disciples of Christ.
These 3 relationships - with God, the Church and the World - involve 3 Distinct Actions on our part: Worship, Service, and Outreach. These actions don't necessarily develop in a certain order; but rather simultaneously. We shouldn't wait until we "master" Worship to enter in to Service, or put off Outreach until we are "prepared" in Service. God desires for us to be intentional in the steps we take with Him. The Precedence of Worship Although the 3 ministry priorities of South Pointe Church (Worship, Service, and Outreach) are all crucial and are intertwine... nevertheless, Worship stands at the top of the pyramid. The ultimate end for which God created man is to see God's glory and worship Him fully. Worship is the motive and the goal of all our deeds done to fellow believers (Service) or to unbelievers (Outreach). Seeing and being captivated by the glory of God makes us long to align ourselves with His purposes of love. And the goal of loving others is to build believers and unbelievers alike into people with greater and greater capacities and desires to praise God's for His never ending Grace. The Importance of Prayer |
|
We desire to be a praying people, who place our trust in the wisdom and power of God. Prayer, throughout the Bible, is defined as constant, personal communication with God. We believe prayer is not made so that God can find out what we need; Jesus tells us, "Your Father knows what you need before you ask him", Matthew 6:8. Instead, God wants us to pray because prayer expresses our trust in God and is a means where our trust in Him can increase. Prayer also brings us into deeper relationship with God. He loves and delights in our closeness. Through prayer, God |
